The other day some people took a one hour fifteen minute drive to the Kennedy Space Center. For US$ 24 you get "maximum visitor access" which includes a tour into the center's restricted area. Unfortunately the tour doesn't include access to the huge Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) which was built in the 60s for the assembly of the Saturn V moon rocket. These days it's where they prepare Space Shuttles for their launches. In fact, Space Shuttle Endeavour was brought from this building to launch pad 39B the very next day after our visit - one month before the end of the countdown on November 30. By the way, the VAB is a familiar sight to us since we have been to Titusville's nearby Space Coast Regional Airport many times.
